Brussels Airport (BA) is an international airport that had over 23 million visitors in 2015 (new record, woehoew!). More than 60 airlines fly in and out of the airport offering passengers the choice and freedom to visit 200 destinations.
Mosquito has been the lead agency for the marketingdepartment of Brussels Airport for 8 years, so when they came to us for advice on how to present themselves to airlines in a more convincing way we jumped on board. They wanted a pitch that was quick, comprehensible and effective to use at the global event, The World Routes.
World Routes brings airports, airlines and tourism authorities together every two years to discuss new and existing air services. Airports partake in an event similar to speed dating. Every airport in the world tries to convince airlines why they should fly from their airport. It’s the toughest sales pitch in the world! Because of this limited amount of time, the pitch had to be quick and persuasive. This is usually done with a power point but because we love being creative and helping our clients stand out from the crowd, we put together a short humorous animated video that showed the benefits of using Brussels Airport. Our strategy was to come up with a fun and creative way of story telling.
The video was so successful it won several awards including the World Routes Award. But the most remarkable thing was that it was the airlines (who are in fact their most valuable clients) that awarded BA. In 2014 BA won for the second time in a row, which is unique in the history of The World Routes Award and in 2015 they won the Routes Europe marketing award.
How bloody brilliant is that?
